About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct building investigations for asbestos, designated substances, mold, lead, and other hazardous materials
- Perform hazardous materials surveys and assessments in commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings
- Collect air, bulk, dust, and other environmental samples during investigations and abatement projects
- Provide field support for hazardous materials abatement and remediation projects, including site inspections and air monitoring
- Assist with building condition assessments and building science-related investigations
- Support environmental projects through field investigations, site visits, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation monitoring
- Interpret laboratory analytical results and field observations
- Prepare technical reports, field notes, drawings, and project documentation
- Communicate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project teams in English and French
- Maintain health and safety standards and procedures while conducting field work
Requirements
What you’ll need- College diploma or university degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Building Science, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline
- 1 to 3 years of experience in hazardous materials consulting, environmental services, building science, or a related field
- Bilingual in English and French (written and verbal) is required
- Previous experience working in hazardous materials consulting and/or building science is considered a major asset
- Knowledge of asbestos, mold, designated substances, lead, indoor air quality assessments, and related regulations is an asset
- Strong technical writing skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in a client-focused environment with demonstrated customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
