About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor legislative and regulatory proposals across an assigned multi-state portfolio affecting Experian's credit bureau, commercial credit, marketing services, automotive, health, and consumer services businesses
- Assess priorities for monitoring or engagement
- Help lead legislative and regulatory engagement with state policymakers and regulators
- Work with state-based consultants and lobbyists, trade associations, coalitions, outside counsel, and other external resources
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies on priority state legislative and regulatory matters
- Coordinate Experian and industry positions
- Monitor state agency rulemakings and regulatory proceedings
- Coordinate company and industry responses, including comment letters
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and business teams to assess policy developments and business impacts
- Develop policy analysis, legislative and regulatory reports, briefing materials, and priority tracking
- Communicate enacted laws and final regulations to support implementation and compliance planning
- Support Experian's state political and PAC activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience working on state legislative or regulatory policy, at a state financial regulatory agency, or with a policy-oriented organization focused on state-level issues
- Must live in the Washington D.C. or Sacramento, California areas
- Available to travel for work once a month
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related area
- Experience working on privacy, financial services, and technology issues
- Experience working with diverse personality types and across party lines
- Experience extracting important takeaways from legislation
- Knowledge of state legislative and regulatory policy
