About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead operational activities for a key defence and aerospace customer
Support multidisciplinary customer engineering projects across the engineering lifecycle
Act as the primary interface between internal teams, customers, and stakeholders
Lead on-site and off-site Engineering Team Leads and Project Managers/PMO
Ensure customer satisfaction and oversee on-time, on-quality delivery of fixed-price projects
Develop and maintain comprehensive project management plans
Oversee project portfolio financials, including budgeting, cost control, invoicing, and finance reviews
Support bid and proposal development for fixed-price projects
Engage stakeholders, align expectations, and resolve issues
Produce and present regular status, risk, and financial performance reports
Provide pastoral care and line management for on-site team members
Support recruitment and resource planning
Promote accountability, innovation, and continuous learning
Champion delivery best practices and compliance with the Quality Management System
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the programme lifecycle
Ensure smooth transitions and handovers between project phases
Collate, format, and review monthly Engineering Team Lead reports
Produce comprehensive monthly reports for the account director
Develop and implement engineering transition plans
Liaise with Engineering Team Leads and wider teams to maintain seamless service delivery
Identify opportunities for account growth
Support the account director, delivery director, and project manager

Requirements

What you’ll need

SC clearance already in place
Willing to work onsite 3 days per week
Experience or knowledge across a wide variety of engineering activities
Ability to lead on-site and off-site Engineering Team Leads and Project Managers/PMO
Ability to oversee fixed-price project delivery, budgeting, cost control, invoicing, and finance reviews
Ability to develop project management and engineering transition plans
Customer and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to produce reports on status, risks, and financial performance
Ability to provide line management, pastoral care, recruitment, and resource planning
Knowledge of quality management systems, governance, and risk mitigation
Ability to ensure timely supply of skilled engineers to meet customer requirements
