About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and mature FCAS effects optimisation concepts for future capability development
- Generate and document concept assumptions, constraints, dependencies and operational considerations
- Engage with weapon programme teams on current and future capability applications across engagement scenarios
- Identify synergies, interactions and relationships between weapon systems and operational effects
- Produce functional architecture and behavioural diagrams
- Generate and maintain combined concept functional diagrams and engineering artefacts
- Assess concepts and identify strengths, limitations, opportunities and dependencies
- Support weapon capability assessments against emerging FCAS concepts
- Produce concept artefacts and technical evidence for Statements of Work, reviews and milestones
- Provide technical expertise at programme reviews and stakeholder working groups
- Contribute to Agile sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
- Support project management using Agile toolsets and configuration-controlled environments
- Produce technical status updates and monthly progress reports for programme leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in systems engineering and concept development
- Experience in operational analysis and problem solving
- Experience with functional decomposition and systems modelling
- Experience in capability assessment and trade-off analysis
- Stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills
- Ability to develop engineering artefacts, presentations and technical reports
- Experience working within Agile project environments
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work within a Defence environment and support sensitive programmes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage effectively with technical leaders, programme teams and key stakeholders
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain appropriate UK Security Clearance where required
- FCAS programme experience, weapon systems and guided weapons knowledge, CONOPS development, MBSE awareness, defence architecture and capability modelling, military operational effects analysis, and systems-of-systems engineering are desired
