About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Understand client requirements and translate them into technical requirements and user stories
- Collaborate with Agile teams, business analysts, data architects, and data engineers
- Analyze and recommend conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Research and document data platforms and outcomes, including source-to-target mapping, transformation rules, data cataloging, and data lineage
- Analyze existing data elements and structures and trace data flows from source to target
- Ensure efficient data flow between users and stakeholders
- Analyze, cleanse, and enrich data to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Gather, organize, analyze, and communicate complex information
- Explain complex technical solutions to non-technical audiences
- Lead data requirements review sessions
- Present complex issues and build consensus through persuasion, influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution
- Produce clear, actionable documentation for approval processes and technical teams
- Participate in sprint reviews, retrospectives, catch-up activities, and other sprint activities
- Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams to develop data solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, engineering, business, administration, or a related field
- At least 7 years of experience as a specialized data analyst
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Extensive experience managing the data lifecycle
- Hands-on experience with dimensional and relational data modeling
- Hands-on experience with data quality
- Hands-on experience with SQL programming
- Hands-on experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
- Hands-on experience with metadata management and master data management
- Experience reverse-engineering source-to-target mappings
- Ability to produce ETL specifications based on the physical data model
- Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Azure and Databricks technologies
- Experience with data modeling technologies such as erwin
- Knowledge of Spark SQL
- Programming experience with SQL, R, or Python
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Proficiency in both official languages
- Eligibility to work legally in Canada preferred
- Ability to meet government security requirements
