About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead assessment of EDC transactions, identify material environmental and social risks, and recommend mitigants for financing transactions
  • Apply the Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, UNGPs, and other relevant international standards
  • Analyze the adequacy of ESIAs, ESDD reports, monitoring reports, thematic reports, ESAPs, audit reports, consultant terms of reference, requests for proposals, and E&S-related policies
  • Negotiate with EDC clients to incorporate E&S commitments into financing documentation
  • Manage relationships with internal and external clients, co-lending IFIs, DFIs, ECAs, and consultants
  • Undertake Asia-Pacific site visits, typically 1–6 days and 1–5 times per year
  • Monitor transaction and project performance and resolve non-compliance issues
  • Advise management and senior management on E&S issues prevalent in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Produce and edit documents for risk management committees, business teams, senior management, and external clients
  • Provide specialist advice on ESRM policies, procedures, programs, and products
  • Maintain knowledge of ESRM policies, procedures, regulatory codes, and codes of conduct
  • Develop understanding of EDC’s mandate, Asia-Pacific strategy, and financing products, and identify sustainability opportunities
  • Occasionally support non-transactional E&S interactions with external stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of a degree in environmental or social sciences or a related sub-discipline, including ecology, environmental management, environmental and social risk management, climate change, biodiversity, water resources, international development, sustainable development, human rights, gender studies, occupational health and safety, community relations & resettlement, environmental or human-rights law, or engineering
  • Advanced knowledge in ESIA and/or due diligence principles, frameworks and standards, including the Equator Principles and the IFC Performance Standards
  • Excellent communication and demonstrated ability to manage relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in ESIA or ESDD in the consulting space or equivalent industry experience within EDC-relevant business sectors
  • Evidence of success in prioritizing and meeting deadlines while managing multiple competing tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to discern, distill, and clearly communicate key issues in complex business transactions and provide advice based on client needs
  • Fluent in English for oral communication, reading, and writing
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of working hours
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across geographies and time zones
  • Ability to work legally in Singapore at the time of application; preference for Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • Must meet requisite government security screening requirements
