About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the assessment of EDC financing transactions and identify significant environmental and social risks
- Recommend key mitigation measures by applying the Equator Principles, the IFC Performance Standards, the United Nations Guiding Principles, and other international standards
- Analyze ESIA reports, due diligence reports, monitoring reports, thematic reports, Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs), audit reports, consultant terms of reference, tender documents, and environmental and social policies
- Negotiate with clients to incorporate environmental and social commitments into financing documentation
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, international financial institutions, development finance institutions, and export credit agencies
- Conduct field visits in the Asia-Pacific region, generally lasting 1 to 6 days, 1 to 5 times per year
- Monitor the performance of transactions and projects and resolve issues related to non-compliance with commitments
- Advise management and senior executives on regional environmental and social matters
- Produce or review documents and prepare information for committees, sector teams, senior management, and clients
- Provide specialized advice to sector, underwriting, and other teams on ESRM policies, procedures, programs, and products
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, regulatory codes, and codes of conduct
- Understand EDC’s mandate, Indo-Pacific strategic direction, and financing products to advance the sustainability program
- Occasionally support EDC in its interactions with external stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, or a relevant sub-discipline
- In-depth knowledge of ESIA and due diligence principles, frameworks, and standards, including the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage client and stakeholder relationships
- At least 7 to 10 years of experience providing ESIA and environmental and social impact due diligence consulting services, or equivalent experience in EDC’s relevant business sectors
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in an environment with multiple responsibilities and competing priorities
- Ability to identify, simplify, and clearly communicate complex commercial transaction issues, both orally and in writing
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of working hours
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across countries and time zones
- Ability to work legally in Singapore at the time of application is preferred
- Ability to meet government security screening requirements at the required level
