About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create business development opportunities in Canada with financial institutions serving the small, medium-sized and large business segments
- Gather and communicate market intelligence to support the partnerships strategy
- Contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives and the development of new opportunities, services and products
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with financial institutions, Crown corporations, pension funds, and private and non-bank financial institutions
- Contribute to the coordination of virtual account teams and the implementation of business development strategies
- Conduct research to understand market needs, gather intelligence and identify new opportunities
- Develop business documents, presentations and reports for the executive team
- Monitor the performance of the partnerships portfolio against targets and provide analysis to management
- Facilitate multifaceted business engagements with partners
- Develop plans for prospective and existing accounts, build relationships with decision-makers and recommend changes
- Execute cross-functional initiatives using a project management approach
- Communicate operational updates related to programs and products to partners
- Consolidate and synthesize information to support business strategies and objectives
- Contribute to the partnerships strategy and execute relationship plans for assigned financial institutions or regions
- Support and coordinate multiparty discussions and negotiations while considering risk parameters
- Collaborate with cross-functional account teams to establish shared objectives and contribute to key performance indicators
- Promote the adoption of AI to improve processes and support business activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Undergraduate degree in finance, business, business administration, international business or a related discipline
- Relevant experience in wholesale, institutional or commercial banking; financial institution relationship management; trade finance; investor relations; or strategic business-to-business relationship management in the financial services sector
- Level 17: 5 to 7 years of experience
- Level 18: at least 7 years of experience
- Strong knowledge of financial institution strategies, credit and lending practices, risk considerations and organizational decision-making processes
- Established credibility with senior executives at major Canadian financial institutions and across the financial services ecosystem (Level 18)
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategy, develop and execute complex relationship plans, coordinate and support complex programs or negotiations, and influence within a matrix environment (Level 18)
- Good understanding of EDC’s mandate, value proposition and lines of business, or the ability to acquire this knowledge quickly
- Experience designing and implementing programs for financial institutions
- Knowledge of international trade, trade finance and the Canadian export ecosystem
- Hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance market research, account planning and meeting preparation
- Sound judgment to validate information obtained and protect confidential information
- Bilingual in French and English
- Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application; preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
- Candidates must meet government security requirements
