About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, assess, and balance employment-law risk
- Provide practical, business-oriented, and creative legal solutions to stakeholders
- Advise on complex grievance, disciplinary, and dismissal processes, including negotiated settlements
- Provide strategic litigation support for Employment Tribunal claims
- Support commercial legal colleagues with employment-related client contracts, master service agreements, and tenders
- Advise on TUPE matters, including transfers of teams into EY
- Advise on employment aspects of corporate acquisitions and internal projects
- Conduct sensitive investigations into business and conduct issues, whistleblowing reports, and external complaints
- Review and recommend changes to policies, procedures, and standard documentation
- Advise on post-termination restrictions
- Provide training to internal stakeholders on employment-related risks and processes
- Partner with the business to support transformation, innovation, and EY’s strategy
- Provide prompt, pragmatic, adaptable, and commercial legal advice across the business
Requirements
What you’ll need- Approximately 6 or more years of post-qualification employment law experience
- Experience gained in a reputable City law firm or equivalent and/or in-house
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent team-player capabilities
- Ability to focus on results and accept accountability
- Ability to build trust and embrace healthy conflict
- Ability to remain calm and manage conflicting and changing deadlines
- Ability to lead, provide a view, take responsibility and ownership of issues
- Ability to make difficult decisions and provide substantiated arguments
- Commercial awareness of business issues
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative culture
- Self-starter who responds promptly and manages/juggles deadlines
- Ability to build relationships based on trust and confidence
- Required employment-law qualification implied by post-qualification experience
