About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the SAP IS-U Device and Work Management workstream from discovery through deployment and post-go-live stabilization
  • Define and govern functional design for device lifecycle management, meter reading, field service, work execution, and operational controls
  • Lead requirements gathering, fit-gap assessments, solution workshops, and design reviews
  • Drive integration across SAP IS-U, AMI, MDMS, EDM, GIS, inventory, SAP Plant Maintenance, and mobile workforce platforms
  • Lead design and delivery of device lifecycle, meter reading, service order, field execution, exception processing, and operational handoff processes
  • Manage dependencies with Billing, Customer Service, Data Conversion, and other workstreams
  • Develop and oversee functional specifications, solution documentation, configuration standards, and design decisions
  • Lead and coach functional consultants and coordinate technical and vendor teams
  • Oversee end-to-end testing and defect resolution for meter-to-cash, field completion, device and meter-reading, exception-processing, integration, and operational-handoff scenarios
  • Manage scope, estimates, dependencies, risks, stakeholder decisions, and escalations
  • Lead cutover, reconciliation, training, production readiness, support transition, and post-go-live stabilization
  • Build client stakeholder relationships and provide guidance on SAP IS-U Device and Work Management capabilities and transformation priorities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Typically 4 to 6 years of SAP IS-U or SAP Utilities experience
  • 3+ years leading a functional workstream or team
  • Hands-on experience in Device Management, Work Management, meter reading, or related utility field processes
  • Experience owning SAP IS-U Device and Work Management solution design and delivery through implementation, testing, deployment, and stabilization
  • Experience with device lifecycle management, meter reading, service orders, field-work processes, and operational controls
  • Experience integrating SAP IS-U with AMI/MDMS, EDM, GIS, inventory, SAP Plant Maintenance, and mobile workforce solutions
  • Experience leading requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, solution workshops, functional design, testing, defect resolution, cutover, and operational readiness
  • Experience governing cross-functional integrations, testing, cutover, and operational readiness within complex utility transformation programs
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing dependencies and risks, and driving decisions with business and technology stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Ability to balance business outcomes, solution quality, delivery constraints, and operational readiness
  • Prior consulting experience preferred
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Utilities and modern AMI/MDMS or mobile workforce architectures preferred
  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance, GIS, inventory, and related field-service solutions preferred
  • Experience supporting electric, gas, and/or water utility field operations preferred
  • Knowledge of utility metering, field operations, regulatory requirements, and operational processes preferred
