About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead design delivery efforts across an engagement
- Run multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, and technologists alongside client stakeholders
- Own the quality of delivered experiences, workstream economics, junior designer development, and client relationships
- Shape practice design standards, tooling, AI usage, designer judgment, and case design
- Set research and measurement approaches for engagements
- Tie design decisions to client KPIs and business outcomes
- Build business cases for design work
- Define standards, tool selection, review processes, and safeguards for AI-assisted design
- Build reusable accelerators, templates, prompts, and patterns
- Define interaction philosophy and pattern libraries for AI-enabled and agentic experiences
- Advise clients on where AI adds value
- Embed explainability, transparency, human-in-the-loop control, accessibility, fairness, and model-risk considerations into design and governance
- Advise client leadership on experience strategy and design operating models
- Develop executive narratives and educate client executives and internal EY teams
- Assess client design and technology maturity and define capability roadmaps
- Build client capability through coaching and structured knowledge transfer
- Lead workstream delivery, engagement economics, budgets, and resource plans
- Identify additional service opportunities and lead design content in RFP responses
- Conduct business development activities, pursuits, and proposals
- Mentor teams and develop and deliver training
- Develop people through coaching and feedback
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, UX Design, Interaction Design, Industrial or Product Design or a related field, plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in product or UX design; alternatively, a master's degree and 4 years of work experience
- Strong exposure to enterprise platforms or complex systems
- Experience leading design on complex or regulated products
- Portfolio showing both craft and outcomes
- Experience directing and developing other designers
- Experience balancing multiple workstreams or engagements while protecting experience quality
- Advanced proficiency in Figma
- Hands-on experience contributing to design systems
- Fluency in Agile delivery using Jira or equivalent
- Regular use of LLMs and AI-assisted design tools such as Claude, Cursor or Figma Make
- Experience setting how a team uses AI-assisted design tools
- Proven ability to design data-heavy, role-based experiences
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior business, technology and risk stakeholders
- Executive-ready presentation skills
- High degree of ownership in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment
- Requires domestic and regional travel up to 80% to serve client needs
