About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and evolve backend workstreams in the Media Planning team, focusing on the media allocation engine, Kafka integration, and DocuSign approval flow
Take end-to-end ownership of technical topics from problem understanding and approach definition through implementation, testing, rollout, and follow-through
Collaborate with product and engineering counterparts on scoping, sequencing, and trade-offs
Extend and maintain event-driven contracts with Order Management using Kafka and outbox patterns
Contribute to a federated GraphQL backend architecture spanning multiple services
Reason about cross-service dependencies and eventual consistency
Partner with backend, frontend, product, and DevOps colleagues on shared initiatives
Review code and contribute to technical discussions
Help raise engineering standards through collaboration and execution
Surface constraints and risks early and drive work through completion

Requirements

What you’ll need

6+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in startup or scale-up environments
Strong TypeScript and Node.js backend experience
Experience with GraphQL in real product environments, ideally federation or subgraph-based architectures
Hands-on experience with event-driven systems and distributed architecture patterns such as Kafka, outbox patterns, and at-least-once delivery semantics
NestJS experience is a strong plus
Autonomous decision-making with incomplete information and responsibility for outcomes
Highly structured and analytical approach
Clear and direct communication regarding scope, trade-offs, risk, and delivery
Comfort working in a lean team with high ownership, initiative, and standards
Experience in AdTech, MarTech, SaaS, or other event-driven platform environments is a plus
English is required
Valid work permit for the location of the role and eligibility to work there
