About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and maintain the Shopify storefront, custom applications, point-of-sale extensions, UI extensions, and Shopify Functions.
Create and maintain internal web applications supporting card grading and pricing, events, and retail operations.
Develop integrations between Shopify, Oracle NetSuite, the product catalog, search infrastructure, and other enterprise systems.
Create and maintain data pipelines and utilities that ensure the reliable flow of pricing, inventory, and catalog data.
Support existing applications developed by external agencies and vendors.
Analyze unfamiliar codebases, troubleshoot production issues, and implement practical improvements.
Contribute to the audit, documentation, and consolidation of existing applications and integrations.
Make architecture and implementation decisions with maintainability, performance, and business needs in mind.
Work directly with internal stakeholders to translate operational challenges into technical solutions.
Help establish standards for development, testing, documentation, deployment, and code quality.

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least five years of professional software development experience, including senior-level ownership of production systems.
Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills across both front-end and back-end development.
Production experience with React and/or Svelte/SvelteKit.
Back-end development experience with Node.js using Express, Fastify, or similar frameworks.
Experience with Shopify development, including applications, themes, and/or API integrations.
Experience with PostgreSQL and modern data-access tools such as Prisma or Drizzle.
Experience building and integrating REST and GraphQL APIs.
Ability to independently take ownership of unfamiliar codebases, diagnose issues, and make sound technical decisions.
Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working with large volumes of data critical to e-commerce and retail operations.
Must reside in Canada and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
English proficiency is required for daily communication with teams in Ontario, the United States, and Europe, as well as with external partners.
