About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the architectural design and hands-on implementation of Fairlo’s data platform in Snowflake
- Redesign and simplify data models and establish clear, scalable data layers
- Resolve structural complexities in the existing data platform
- Build reliable, well-structured, accessible data foundations for AI-driven insights, intelligent automation, and AI-powered products and workflows
- Establish standards and practices for data quality, ownership, documentation, access management, and development
- Implement robust data quality monitoring and automated testing in dbt
- Make data discoverable and easier for teams to use through self-service capabilities
- Explore and apply AI to data platform design, development, testing, documentation, and maintenance
- Identify opportunities, challenge existing structures, propose solutions, and drive initiatives
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Risk, Finance, and the wider business
- Work closely with the existing Data Engineer and colleagues across Stockholm, Sweden, Greece, and the UK
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience in data engineering, including hands-on experience designing, rebuilding, or substantially improving complex data warehouses or platforms
- Expert-level proficiency in dbt
- Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture, data modelling, performance optimisation, and long-term scalability
- Familiarity with modern data pipelines, including orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster and change data capture (CDC)
- Experience establishing data quality and governance foundations
- Curiosity and proactive interest in AI
- Understanding of how data connects to business outcomes
- Ability to challenge existing solutions, make recommendations, build alignment, and drive initiatives
- Clear communication and collaboration skills
- Fluency in English
- Nice to have: experience building data foundations for AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics
- Nice to have: familiarity with modern AI tools, LLMs, or AI-assisted data engineering workflows
- Nice to have: experience with data cataloguing, metadata management, and data observability tools
- Nice to have: experience in fintech, banking, or other regulated industries
- Nice to have: experience in a fast-growing organisation establishing new structures, standards, and ways of working
