About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, mentor, and develop engineering squads while fostering ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Provide technical leadership for identity, authentication, KYC, and related backend systems
Collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance, and other teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions
Drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable and resilient distributed systems
Ensure high standards for architecture, code quality, testing, security, reliability, and engineering practices
Support engineers in solving complex technical challenges and making engineering decisions
Manage team performance, growth, hiring, and development
Monitor system performance and reliability, identify improvement areas, and drive technical improvements
Contribute to engineering strategy and shape the Identity technology roadmap
Work with technologies including Android, Ruby on Rails, Go, Sidekiq, RSpec, Python, Flask, AWS, Kubernetes, SNS, SQS, Lambdas, RDS Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, GCP, BigQuery, Cloud Composer, and GitHub Actions

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience in a backend engineering environment
2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
Strong hands-on experience with backend development and distributed systems
Experience designing, building, and operating scalable and reliable production systems
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture, testing, CI/CD, and system reliability
Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating closely with Product and other business functions
Experience working on identity, authentication, KYC, onboarding, fraud prevention, or related financial services systems
Experience working in fintech, banking, payments, or another regulated financial services environment
Strong experience with Go, Ruby/Rails, or another backend programming language
Experience building and operating distributed, event-driven, or microservices-based systems
Experience working with AWS or other major cloud platforms
Experience leading engineering teams through complex technical projects and organisational change
Experience mentoring senior engineers and developing technical leadership within a team
