About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms for RF communications signals and waveform processing
- Lead algorithm development from concept through prototype and implementation
- Implement and validate DSP solutions on Xilinx RFSoC, UltraScale+, and Versal platforms
- Collaborate with FPGA engineers on hardware-realizable architectures, fixed-point design, and throughput/latency optimization
- Work with embedded software engineers to integrate real-time DSP pipelines, drivers, DMA, streaming interfaces, buffering, and runtime configuration
- Develop and execute test and verification strategies using lab instrumentation and captured RF datasets
- Characterize performance under CFO/phase noise, multipath, fading, interference/jamming, and nonlinearities
- Develop MATLAB/Simulink and Python simulation and analysis environments
- Correlate simulation results with hardware and field behavior
- Define architecture, conduct design reviews, mentor engineers, and communicate trade-offs
- Produce DSP design descriptions, algorithm specifications, performance reports, ICD inputs, and SBIR deliverables as required
- Support integration, debugging, and field testing across DSP, RF, FPGA, and embedded software domains
- Collaborate with customers and engineering teams on RF Tactical & Naval Military Solutions and strategic border protection applications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field
- 15+ years of relevant DSP engineering experience
- Demonstrated delivery of RF communications signal processing solutions
- Practical experience processing RF communications signals, including development, validation, and performance characterization
- Strong fundamentals in communications and statistical signal processing
- Experience implementing DSP on embedded/real-time systems and/or hardware-accelerated platforms
- Experience with Xilinx UltraScale+, RFSoC, and Versal
- Ability to simulate and/or model DSP algorithms using MATLAB, Modelsim, or equivalent
- Ability to define or implement fixed-point functions where applicable
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative DSP approaches
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, C/C++, HDL (VHDL or Verilog), MATLAB, or equivalent
- Disciplined software engineering practices
- Experience working with cross-functional RF, FPGA, embedded, and systems teams
- U.S. citizenship
- Active DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or ability to obtain one
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and possess or obtain a Secret-level clearance
- Willingness to travel 25–30% when required
