About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and execute Fannie Mae's enterprise cybersecurity strategy
- Oversee Threat Detection and Response, Cyber Incident Management, and cyber protection organizations
- Strengthen enterprise cyber threat detection using internal and external resources
- Oversee cyber incident response and management programs and vulnerability remediation
- Ensure cybersecurity applications and systems remain relevant, viable, and scalable
- Partner with business, technology, and risk leaders to strengthen security posture and drive modernization
- Enhance cyber resilience and align cybersecurity technologies with business needs
- Drive process optimization and efficiency through automation and enhanced technologies
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry requirements
- Foster security, operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Drive detection and containment of cybersecurity events
- Direct strategic intelligence activities to identify relevant cyber threats and vulnerabilities
- Mature the enterprise cybersecurity posture in complex on-premises and multicloud environments
- Oversee cybersecurity risk management, audits, reviews, assessments, and audit issue remediation
- Coordinate governance, control health monitoring, tabletop exercises, and critical patch procedures
- Apply cloud security technologies and models, including the AWS shared responsibility model and SaaS
- Lead adoption of best-in-class and emerging cybersecurity technologies
- Transform legacy manual processes through automation and technology
- Communicate cyber strategies, plans, and operational risks in business terms while aligning stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant progressive leadership experience in cybersecurity, technology, or technology risk
- Substantial experience leading cybersecurity organizations in large, complex enterprises
- Experience leading enterprise-scale Cyber Defense, Security Operations, Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, Detection Engineering, or related capabilities
- Experience developing and executing cybersecurity strategies and major transformation programs across complex technology environments
- Experience leading significant cyber incidents and making consequential decisions under pressure
- Deep understanding of adversary behaviors and attack techniques, including AI-driven attacks
- Knowledge of security operations, detection and response, threat intelligence, threat hunting, digital forensics, incident management, security engineering, and enterprise security architecture
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments and working with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Audit, and regulatory stakeholders
- Success building, developing, and retaining high-performing technical organizations and senior leadership teams
- Exceptional executive communication skills and ability to translate technical cybersecurity matters into business risk and strategic decisions
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field
- Preferred: cybersecurity leadership in a large financial institution, critical infrastructure provider, systemically important organization, or highly regulated enterprise
- Preferred: experience modernizing large-scale Security Operations or Cyber Defense organizations
- Preferred: knowledge of cloud-native and hybrid technology environments
- Preferred: experience integrating offensive security, threat intelligence, and defensive capabilities
- Preferred: experience applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics, and automation in cybersecurity operations
- Preferred: familiarity with NIST CSF, NIST incident response guidance, MITRE ATT&CK, and related standards
- Preferred: advanced degree
- Preferred: CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or comparable certifications
