About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and evolve Kotlin BFFs that orchestrate and aggregate data from multiple microservices for web and mobile applications
Define API contracts (REST and/or GraphQL) with frontend and mobile teams, ensuring versioning and compatibility
Optimize performance and latency using coroutine-based parallelism, caching, pagination, and reduced inter-service calls
Implement resilience patterns, including circuit breakers, retries, timeouts, and fallbacks, in integrations with downstream services
Ensure authentication, authorization, and security best practices, including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, and sensitive data protection
Participate in architectural decisions, document trade-offs, and lead code reviews focused on quality and maintainability
Work with observability and production incident response
Mentor mid-level and junior developers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid, proven backend experience with Kotlin, including coroutines and Flow
Hands-on experience building BFFs or API aggregation/orchestration layers in production
Proficiency in Spring Boot (WebFlux is a plus) or Ktor
Experience with microservices architecture and service integration (REST, gRPC, or GraphQL)
Knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and caching (Redis)
Automated testing across application layers (JUnit 5, MockK, Testcontainers)
Daily experience with Git, CI/CD, and Docker
Good API security practices and familiarity with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD)
Nice to have: experience with messaging (Kafka or RabbitMQ) and event-driven architecture
Nice to have: experience with GraphQL (Apollo, Netflix DGS) or API gateways
Nice to have: Kubernetes and cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Nice to have: experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK
Nice to have: experience in the financial sector or highly critical environments
Technical English for reading and documentation is a plus
Autonomy and ownership of deliverables, risks, and production impact
Ability to articulate technical decisions with clear trade-offs
Strong communication with product, frontend, mobile, and business teams
Collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge
