About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Leverage legal expertise in ethics and values, regulatory compliance, privacy, and access to information to lead programs supporting integrity at FCC
- Provide strategic direction and ensure continuous improvement of ethics, regulatory compliance, privacy, and access to information programs
- Integrate programs into organizational operations and risk management practices
- Set clear standards and oversee reporting to senior management, the President and CEO, and the Board of Directors
- Lead a team of ethics, regulatory compliance, and privacy professionals
- Develop and implement a strategic plan defining employee integrity standards in accordance with legal requirements, public-sector guidance, and standards applicable to Canadian Crown corporations
- Align regulatory compliance and privacy programs with the organization’s risk appetite in collaboration with risk management leaders
- Make recommendations regarding tolerance, reporting approaches, and program outcomes
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with federal officials, legal counsel, and counterparts at Canadian Crown corporations
- Establish clear expectations, priorities, and objectives for ethics, regulatory compliance, and privacy teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in law, business administration, risk management, governance, public policy, or a related field
- Minimum of ten years of progressive, relevant professional experience, ideally in a complex, regulated, or public-sector organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to translate legislative, regulatory, or policy requirements into practical, risk-proportionate frameworks, programs, and controls
- Ability to lead a high-performing team of specialists
- Strong coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Significant experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, ethics, governance, privacy, law, audit, or a related field
- Proficiency in both official languages, English and French, with oral and written communication ability
- Experience integrating regulatory compliance or privacy programs into enterprise risk management
- Experience building relationships with federal oversight bodies or counterparts at Canadian Crown corporations
- Experience developing learning, coaching, or communication strategies to raise awareness and strengthen organizational standards
- Excellent judgment, rigorous analytical thinking, and a high degree of professional ethics and integrity
