About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a portfolio of complex, high-visibility publications and communications projects
- Lead strategic planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and budget performance across multiple concurrent projects
- Serve as point of contact with government contracting and technical representatives, task managers, and researchers
- Oversee production of one-page flyers, 300+ page technical reports, presentations, video, and social media content
- Supervise writers, editors, designers, and web and multimedia specialists
- Manage risk, quality control, performance metrics, and regular progress reporting to government stakeholders
- Ensure project status is accurately tracked in the client's submission and tracking system
- Support the Federal Highway Administration's publications and communications program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing/Communications, or a related discipline; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams and management of marketing/communications programs
- Demonstrated experience managing the production of technical publications, from short-form materials to long-form technical reports
- Experience supporting highway or surface transportation programs or clients
- Experience managing federal government contracts or task orders
- Experience managing a periodical or magazine production cycle
- Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility and federal publishing standards (GPO and Chicago style)
