About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the investment team in the management and research of corporate bonds and preferred shares.
- Conduct and support issuer credit analysis.
- Assist with day-to-day portfolio management.
- Contribute to and conduct fundamental credit analysis, including investment recommendations on assigned credit issuers and specific sectors.
- Document and report on credit analysis and relevant news to the Fixed Income team.
- Meet with corporate management teams, investment bankers and analysts.
- Make investment recommendations and monitor the risk budgets of bond strategies within assigned sectors.
- Provide general support in managing corporate bond and preferred share strategies.
- Act as a liaison between the Front-Office team and data teams/technology partners to enhance AI, data visualization and platform development integration into the investment process.
- Assist in tailoring, gathering and analyzing market and strategy-related information for reports, presentations, and client or internal inquiries.
- Contribute to front-office applications, including standalone tools, dashboards, portfolio monitoring applications, trading-related tools, and reporting solutions.
- Work alongside portfolio managers, analysts, data teams and technology partners to improve access to, integration of and use of data in daily investment processes.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is an asset.
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science or Computer Science is an asset.
- CFA designation or active enrollment in the CFA Program.
- Experience with front-office applications, including data integration and application connectivity, and architecture-aligned solution development is an asset.
- Experience in capital markets or in the portfolio management industry is an asset.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis is an asset.
- Familiarity with AI integration tools and frameworks, such as coding agents, MCP servers, and AI-assisted development platforms, is an asset.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with portfolio managers, analysts, traders, data teams, and technology partners.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to operate in a dynamic investment management environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong business acumen, judgement and decision-making skills.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
- Familiarity with the Canadian bond market and corporate bond issuers.
- An understanding of portfolio management processes and investment policies.
- For roles based in Quebec (Montreal and Laval), proficiency in spoken and written French is required. A working knowledge of English is also necessary to collaborate with our global teams and clients.
