About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build and operate scalable data pipelines, data models and end-to-end solution architectures on GCP using BigQuery, Python, dbt, Airflow and Dataform
- Own technical delivery from scoping through production, including design decisions, risk and dependency management, and communicating trade-offs
- Ensure delivery quality through validation, automated testing, observability and data-quality controls
- Diagnose and resolve production issues
- Design and build AI applications, including LLM agents on Google Cloud with Gemini and Google's ADK, from prototype to production
- Use agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex, critically validating their output
- Share effective tools and practices through demos, documentation and reusable patterns
- Collaborate with clients, consultants and data scientists to clarify requirements and translate business needs into pragmatic designs
- Raise engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, testing practices and documentation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Excellent SQL and strong Python skills
- Proven experience designing, building and operating reliable data pipelines, data models and cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure also welcome)
- Experience with transformation and orchestration tooling such as dbt, Airflow or Dataform
- Strong software engineering practices: Git-based workflows, code review, automated testing and CI/CD
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs (Gemini or similar), including agents, connecting models to data and APIs, and evaluating outputs
- Judgement to know when to rely on AI-assisted engineering tools and when to verify
- Ability to break down ambiguous problems, identify the business challenge, make well-reasoned decisions, and prototype and pitch ideas
- Excellent client-facing communication and confidence leading delivery independently across several client projects
- Desirable: Infrastructure as code (Terraform), cloud IAM, secure handling of client data, production LLM agents, evaluation and guardrails, cost control, Slack/Teams integrations, applied data science, Looker or Power BI, marketing platforms and marketing data
