About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for end-to-end Mortgage Operations across retail and wholesale channels
  • Diagnose the operating model using data and end-to-end process analysis
  • Develop and execute an operational transformation strategy focused on simplification, standardization, scalability, automation, and measurable improvements
  • Design and implement responsible AI and intelligent automation in fulfillment workflows
  • Deploy automation capabilities at production scale and redesign roles and staffing models
  • Establish AI-proficiency expectations and manage adoption and output as performance metrics
  • Maximize the existing loan origination and technology environment through process redesign and workflow automation
  • Establish performance standards, service levels, KPIs, dashboards, operating cadences, and capacity measures
  • Partner with Technology, Product, Data, Quality Control, Risk, Compliance, Capital Markets, and channel leadership
  • Ensure processes comply with FHA, Ginnie Mae, investor, securitization, regulatory, quality, and Company requirements
  • Lead cross-functional process redesign initiatives to improve cycle time, cost per loan, throughput, quality, and capacity
  • Evaluate initiatives using measurable business outcomes and data-driven prioritization
  • Promote accountability, adaptability, continuous learning, and evidence-based decision-making
  • Deliver first-year outcomes including reduced cost to produce and cycle time, production AI automation, measurable performance standards, and an organization design supporting 2027 volume targets within existing headcount
  • Report to the Chief Operations Officer, FAR

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mortgage operations, lending operations, financial services operations, banking, fintech, or a closely related field, including significant senior leadership responsibility
  • Experience leading a large, multi-functional operations or fulfillment organization through functional leaders in a regulated lending or financial-services environment
  • Record of transforming and modernizing operational functions with measurable improvements in cycle time, unit cost, productivity, capacity, throughput, quality, and/or customer experience
  • At least one transformation producing a 25%+ improvement in unit cost or cycle time
  • Hands-on experience implementing AI, intelligent automation, workflow technology, or comparable digital capabilities in core operational processes at production scale, with measured productivity or unit-cost impact
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage fulfillment functions, including processing, underwriting, appraisal, closing, funding, post-closing, and securitization loan-level diligence
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and investor requirements
  • Ability to establish and manage performance through data, KPIs, service standards, dashboards, reporting, forecasting, and consistent management routines
  • Experience driving operational change through an existing technology stack using process redesign and automation
  • Technical fluency to partner with Technology, Engineering, Data, and Product leaders and evaluate build-versus-buy decisions
  • Executive leadership capabilities including leadership assessment, coaching, organizational design, change leadership, succession planning, and development of high-performing teams
  • Sound judgment balancing operational speed, innovation, customer experience, regulatory compliance, investor requirements, risk management, and quality
  • Experience leading teams in a geographically distributed or remote work environment
  • Effective communication with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Evidence-based, adaptable approach to complex operational problems and significant organizational change
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field
