About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Appoint and replace arbitrators for arbitration cases
  • Schedule and reschedule pre-hearing conferences and hearings
  • Generate, mail, and/or publish memos and correspondence to the DRS Portal
  • Receive arbitrator lists, enter rankings, and consolidate or extend lists
  • Document reasons for arbitrator changes
  • Contact arbitrators to serve on cases
  • Notify parties and arbitrators about conference calls and hearings
  • Schedule in-person and video conferences with the meetings team
  • Process postponement requests and assess applicable fees
  • Process party agreements to opt out of IPHC
  • Attend assigned prehearing conferences and hearings
  • Close conference calls and pay arbitrators
  • Maintain electronic and physical case files
  • Enter case notes and hearing dates into the case processing system
  • Submit off-site hearing reservation requests
  • Maintain and provide digital recording files
  • Answer questions from constituents, parties, and arbitrators
  • Process emails, pre-hearing briefs, witness lists, and exhibits
  • Track hearing exhibits, recordings, and transcripts
  • Review and process Arbitrator Oaths and Checklists
  • Determine arbitration panel composition and review arbitrator conflicts
  • Conduct internet searches on appointed arbitrators
  • Process arbitrator expense reports and travel approvals
  • Process physical checks
  • Perform cross-trained Reception Coordinator, Senior Case Coordinator, and Case Specialist functions
  • Train and guide staff as needed
  • Serve as a role model for department staff
  • Collaborate in person and virtually in furtherance of FINRA’s investor-protection and market-integrity mission
  • Perform additional duties, including presentations, as required by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School and 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Expertise using a desktop computer with the full suite of electronic office applications and other office equipment
  • Excellent organizational ability
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with defined in-person presence requirements
  • Compliance with FINRA investment, securities-account disclosure, and financial-reporting restrictions
  • Ability to execute FINRA’s Employee Confidentiality and Invention Assignment Agreement
  • Compliance with the company’s policy on nepotism
