About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and manage multi-faceted outreach programs for the Office of Investor Education and FINRA Investor Education Foundation
  • Lead investor protection and financial fraud awareness, prevention, and intervention initiatives
  • Participate in long-range strategic planning
  • Contribute to the development and distribution of research and publications
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for internal and external speaking engagements and media
  • Identify and develop opportunities for FINRA leadership to engage with retail investors
  • Cultivate internal and external relationships advancing FINRA and Foundation strategic initiatives
  • Lead development, execution, and continuous improvement of a 3–5 year outreach strategy
  • Engage with industry peers, media, and stakeholders to shape investor education and protection best practices
  • Lead dissemination and strategic positioning of research and publications
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including Regulatory Operations and the Office of Global Government Affairs
  • Develop and present strategic business plans and performance frameworks to senior leaders and Foundation Board members
  • Translate complex operational data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Lead internal and external committees and multidisciplinary teams on high-visibility retail investor education and protection issues
  • Collaborate in-person and virtually to advance FINRA’s mission of investor protection and market integrity
  • Report to the Senior Director, Investor Education

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related professional experience leading multi-faceted, high-profile consumer engagement programs
  • Substantial regulatory or financial education and protection experience (8 or more years)
  • Knowledge of the U.S. securities industry, securities laws and regulatory structure
  • Ability to serve as an institutional voice at conferences and high-profile external engagements
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with nonprofit and consumer protection organizations, law enforcement, financial services industry, and government/regulatory entities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate to senior internal and external audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple complex, high-visibility assignments simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and execution against tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-stakes regulatory environment
  • Travel required
  • Ability to comply with FINRA’s Code of Conduct, investment restrictions, financial disclosure requirements, and Employee Confidentiality and Invention Assignment Agreement
