About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support FINRA’s Strategic Intelligence mission within the Risk & Intelligence organization
  • Identify, analyze, and assess emerging risks, threats, regulatory trends, and critical events affecting member firms, investors, and financial markets
  • Contribute to strategies for mitigating risks and threats
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts across departments
  • Establish and maintain internal and external intelligence partnerships and networks
  • Develop and maintain intelligence frameworks, collection strategies, and standards
  • Deliver timely, actionable intelligence to enterprise and external stakeholders
  • Develop intelligence products, assessments, briefings, and communications for senior leadership, regulatory staff, and external stakeholders
  • Improve intelligence processes, frameworks, and programs
  • Conduct member firm and investor intelligence-sharing activities, including conference panels, working groups, and roundtables
  • Conduct FINRA staff training and intelligence-sharing through training events, podcasts, workshops, and live webinars
  • Build relationships with member firms, law enforcement, and government intelligence partners
  • Collaborate in person and virtually in support of investor protection and market integrity

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of eight (8) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
  • Advanced degree in intelligence studies, public policy, business, or law preferred
  • Previous experience at a broker-dealer, financial institution, government agency, or department with a focus on intelligence preferred
  • Proven knowledge and advanced expertise performing advanced and high-complexity intelligence functions across the full intelligence cycle
  • Proven experience applying highly advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills to assess complex risks and threats
  • Proven track record of making meaningful improvements to intelligence processes or products
  • Strong knowledge of FINRA rules and federal securities laws preferred
  • Strong knowledge of securities markets and member firm operations preferred
  • Highly advanced written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly advanced organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Expert proficiency with the full suite of Office software applications
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as needed
  • Ability to collaborate in person and virtually
  • FINRA employees must comply with Code of Conduct investment restrictions and financial disclosure requirements
  • Employees must disclose applicable brokerage accounts and authorize duplicate statements
  • New employees must comply with investment restrictions by their employment start date
  • Securities accounts must be maintained at firms providing an electronic feed to FINRA, with transfers completed within three months of starting employment
  • Must execute FINRA’s Employee Confidentiality and Invention Assignment Agreement
  • Must comply with the company’s policy on nepotism
