About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan and execute analytics projects throughout their lifecycle
  • Define project approaches, scope analytics, and drive work using appropriate quantitative methods
  • Work closely with the business to ensure project objectives and goals are met
  • Promote advanced analytics and associated insights for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management
  • Lead business engagement activities, including soliciting use cases, user feedback, and training
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of FINRA’s cross-market surveillance program
  • Work across delivery teams to deliver analytics capabilities that solve critical business problems
  • Drive availability of relevant data, tools, and infrastructure for experimentation and development
  • Provide analytics-based research and respond to ad hoc requests supporting business objectives
  • Define data collection approaches, transformations, and extensions with third-party information
  • Devise and implement automation methods for predictive pipelines to achieve regulatory efficiencies
  • Participate in the enterprise-wide strategic plan for expanding analytics capabilities supporting regulatory programs
  • Collaborate in person and virtually in furtherance of FINRA’s investor protection and market integrity mission
  • Mentor Research Analysts on methodologies and best practices
  • Attend training programs, conferences, and continued education in advanced analytics, software development, artificial intelligence, and machine learning

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Business, or similar quantitative discipline, and six (6) or more years of related work experience in Data Science, Engineering or Software development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in advanced analytics using machine learning, data mining, and natural language processing, preferred
  • Familiarity with Big Data processing and platforms desirable
  • Strong knowledge in at least one of Python, R, SQL, or SCALA
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on complex and prolonged projects
  • Defined in-person presence requirements in a hybrid work environment
  • Occasional travel and extended hours may be required
  • Compliance with FINRA’s Code of Conduct, investment restrictions, financial disclosure requirements, Employee Confidentiality and Invention Assignment Agreement, and company nepotism policy
