About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and drive the commodity strategy for Avionics and EEE Parts, including category strategy, supplier strategies, and long-term strategic agreements
- Lead strategic market analysis and monitor industry trends, technology roadmaps, and best practices
- Define supplier selection criteria, negotiation strategy, and sourcing direction
- Develop and implement supplier engagement and supply base growth strategies
- Evaluate and develop Avionics and EEE Parts supply bases for space vehicle development and production
- Manage global supplier performance, relationships, and risk; assess financial health, technical capability, quality, and delivery
- Develop category- and supplier-specific mitigation strategies
- Facilitate regular business reviews with key suppliers
- Support supplier integration into Firefly systems and processes
- Organize and participate in supplier workshops, conferences, and events
- Partner with Planning and Procurement on sourcing and transactional activities, including RFx, PRs, and POs
- Provide negotiation strategy and support for long-term price agreements and contract terms
- Issue RFx, PRs, and POs as needed during peak demand, gaps, or critical needs
- Rationalize and consolidate the supply base
- Monitor global market conditions, capacity constraints, lead times, and long-term business risks
- Provide periodic industry updates to stakeholders
- Identify long-lead procurement needs and supplier capability gaps
- Drive schedule recovery and corrective action for program and production goals
- Partner with Program, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Production, M&P, and R&D
- Drive total cost of ownership savings
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and quality requirements
- Manage assigned staff, team KPIs, and company goals
- Mentor direct and indirect reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a similar role, focused on supplier/commodity management
- Experience managing Avionics and/or EEE Parts commodities in aerospace R&D and manufacturing or other regulatory-controlled environments
- Deep knowledge of procurement across Avionics and EEE Parts, including electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components
- Extensive technical knowledge of assigned commodities' manufacturing processes and industry standards, such as AS9100
- Proven track record managing suppliers and improving cost, quality, delivery, and other performance criteria
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Strong analytical skills, including market analysis, supplier evaluation, and supply chain risk modeling
- Experience sourcing for both development and production
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities with partners and suppliers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally and independently
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to travel 25%–50% of the time, including to remote sites
- Master's degree in a relevant field preferred
- Engineering background or strong technical experience preferred
- CPM, CSCP certification or equivalent preferred
- Odoo ERP/MRP knowledge preferred
- ITAR experience preferred
- Experience with AS9100 / ISO9001 supply base requirements preferred
- Experience with FAR/DFAR requirements preferred
- Experience with commercial programs and contracts preferred
- Aerospace industry experience preferred
- Experience in an R&D-focused environment; prototyping and test environment a plus
