About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate mixers, pre-mixers and blending equipment to produce liquid soap
- Follow all safety policies and procedures and safely handle chemicals in compliance with OSHA standards
- Report chemical spills and follow quarantine and cleanup procedures
- Follow sanitation programs, including preparation of sanitation solutions and sanitation of mixers, pre-mixers, tanks and totes
- Understand fluid flow from raw material storage tanks to mixers and pre-mixers
- Transfer finished product between mixers, pre-mixers and storage tanks
- Operate forklifts to move batching materials
- Follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP)
- Follow recipes and PI sheets to accurately make batches using the proper chemical-addition sequence
- Troubleshoot issues, ensure batch quality and escalate broken or leaking equipment
- Rework batches as needed to avoid product waste
- Record data on batch sheets, batch logs, wastewater logs and logbooks
- Maintain stock levels of non-bulk items and salt levels in brine tanks
- Conduct pH and soft-water hardness testing
- Complete cleaning duties for the process area and liquid-processing equipment
- Attend hazardous chemical seminars as required
- Operate the wastewater system
- Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary and problem-free process operation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 - 3 years of experience as a machine operator in a production environment
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization, as well as receive communication from others
- Must be well organized
- Ability to learn quickly
- Must be able to read and follow verbal and written instructions
- Must have good communication skills including reading, writing and communicating to others
- Chemistry background preferred
- Blending, batch mixing experience preferred
