About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee all daily plant operations, including production and manufacturing
- Ensure policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations are followed
- Coordinate manufacturing operations to meet production needs
- Drive a safety-first culture and continuously improve compliance with safety procedures
- Lead scheduling and production flow, including inventory control
- Ensure cost effectiveness, efficient labor utilization and performance, and quality standards
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the work environment
- Develop and maintain production data, metrics, and KPI reports covering Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
- Make recommendations on capital purchases and prepare Capital Equipment Expenditure Requests and justifications
- Partner with local leadership to optimize production schedules and support Fisher Barton's SIOP process
- Lead performance management for plant employees, including coaching and guidance
- Build an environment that attracts and empowers high-performing individuals and teams
- Hold direct and indirect reports accountable for performance and results
- Make employment decisions regarding hiring, discipline, training, promotions, and transfers
- Spend approximately 80% of working time on the production floor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, manufacturing engineering, or related field
- Ten years of manufacturing operations experience, with five years at a managerial level of responsibility
- Strong customer orientation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven leadership skills in planning, manufacturing systems and processes, and continuous improvement
- Past experience working with customers and vendors
- Experience using Epicor
- Machining experience
- Machine shop environment experience; milling, turning, grinding, and heat treat highly desirable
- Lean or other continuous improvement experience
- ISO experience
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization
- Ability to lead significant projects across multiple departments
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to identify process-improvement solutions
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements, schedules, deadlines, and priorities
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery
- Willingness to spend 80% of time on the production floor
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with loud noises, including a machine shop foundry
