About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design products using conceptual design and 3D CAD modelling within project objectives, performance constraints, and cost constraints
- Perform design validation testing of prototypes and off-tool samples
- Define design modifications to ensure compliance with technical specifications and performance requirements
- Develop documentation defining product performance requirements and acceptance criteria
- Build, test, modify, and validate concepts and prototypes in the lab
- Participate in marketing research, including field research, ethnography, and focus groups
- Translate research observations into concept sketches and drawings
- Analyze competing and related products and technologies
- Support supply chain cost-reduction opportunities and design refinements
- Provide proof-of-concept and production-quality prototypes for customer sales presentations
- Collaborate with industrial designers, product managers, marketing experts, global factories, and suppliers
- Report to the Senior Manager, R&D
Requirements
What you’ll need- MSc/BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in product development, with a strong focus on mechanical design
- Proficiency in 3D CAD/solid modelling software, preferably SolidWorks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid understanding of plastic and metal part manufacturing technologies
- Ability to communicate design proposals through 2D/3D visualizations and prototypes
- Strong ideation and problem-solving skills
- Keen eye for detail and passion for innovation
- Positive attitude and ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively across functions
- CV submitted in English
