About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform engineering calculations related to HVAC systems, equipment sizing, ventilation, and fluid flow
- Develop mechanical system layouts and design solutions for varied building types
- Assist with equipment evaluation and selection
- Support preparation of technical documentation, reports, and specifications
- Execute assigned project portions with increasing independence
- Coordinate with Project Engineers, Project Managers, BIM staff, and other disciplines
- Participate in field surveys, site investigations, and construction-phase support
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs
- Produce and coordinate construction documents using BIM/CAD tools
- Develop layouts for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and related systems
- Ensure drawings and models meet firm standards and project requirements
- Guide and support junior designers
- Participate in continuous improvement, engineering standards, knowledge-sharing, industry involvement, and professional development activities
- Support F&T's thought leadership initiatives through industry participation and technical contributions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering or design experience
- EIT certification preferred
- Strong understanding of HVAC and building mechanical systems
- Experience with BIM/CAD platforms and design workflows
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
