About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set technical direction for Cloud Signals systems, including architecture, design documentation, and staged technical plans
Lead the Fivetran and dbt billing integration, including data models, usage pipelines, reconciliation, and migration strategy
Evolve Vortex into a reliable, cost-efficient, scalable event platform
Grow the Notification System into a dependable shared service
Collaborate with Product, Finance, RevOps, Data, and partner engineering teams across both companies
Prototype solutions and fill gaps in specifications before committing to a direction
Define SLOs, improve alerting and runbooks, participate in on-call, and lead incident response and blameless postmortems
Mentor engineers at every level and provide code and design reviews
Promote effective and responsible use of AI tools in the software development lifecycle
Partner with engineering leadership on roadmap, staffing, and build-versus-buy decisions across teams, departments, and time zones

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years building and operating production software, with a track record of technical leadership on large, cross-team projects
Deep experience designing distributed systems and backend services, with a strong focus on correctness, idempotency, and data integrity
Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and high-volume streaming or messaging systems such as Kafka
Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling, plus experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake
Proven ability to design, build, and consume APIs and integrate with third-party systems
Production experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably AWS
Production experience with containers and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes
Production experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform
Strong operational mindset, including observability, SLOs, on-call, incident management, and zero-downtime migrations
Ability to identify design flaws and lead incremental improvements while continuing to ship
Excellent written and verbal communication, including clear design documentation and explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical partners
Fluency with AI coding assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI for software development and SDLC artifacts
Bonus: experience with billing, metering, usage-based pricing, telemetry or analytics pipelines, notification platforms, ETL/ELT, dbt, modern data stack tools, or post-merger system integration
