About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and run features across billing, usage metering, telemetry, and notifications
Write high-quality, well-tested production code
Own technical projects from requirements breakdown and design documentation through planning, rollout, and production
Help deliver the Fivetran and dbt billing integration, focusing on accurate usage data, reliable pipelines, and smooth migrations
Improve Vortex and the Notification System by onboarding event types and use cases, increasing reliability, and reducing cost
Collaborate with Product, Finance, Data, and partner engineering teams
Prototype ideas and fill gaps in specifications
Participate in on-call, investigate and resolve production issues, contribute to postmortems, and improve alerting and runbooks
Mentor early-career engineers and provide constructive code reviews
Serve as a technical voice and help shape engineering practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years building and operating production software
Strong experience designing and building backend services and APIs, with attention to correctness, reliability, and data integrity
Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures
Solid knowledge of relational databases and data modeling
Ability to independently lead the design of a feature or service and identify design flaws in existing systems
Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider, AWS preferred
Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes
Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code using Terraform, and observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana
Experience with code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and on-call responsibilities
Clear written and verbal communication, including writing design documents and working with cross-functional partners
Fluency with AI code assistants and coding agents, including conversational AI tools, for software development and SDLC artifacts
Python and TypeScript experience for backend services and APIs
Experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Kafka or similar systems, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, REST APIs, and third-party billing/payment platforms
