About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as a trusted technical advisor to strategic enterprise customers evaluating, adopting, and expanding their use of dbt
Partner with Sales to understand customer technical and business priorities
Design solutions using the dbt platform and demonstrate measurable value throughout evaluations
Lead technical discovery, connecting technical requirements to business outcomes and success criteria
Design enterprise-grade data transformation and analytics architectures using dbt
Lead customer evaluations and technical validation, including trials and proof-of-value engagements
Build relationships with technical practitioners, data leaders, executive stakeholders, and technology and consulting partners
Guide customers through architecture, security, governance, and deployment considerations
Support adoption and identify expansion opportunities throughout the customer lifecycle
Bring customer and field insights to Product and Engineering to influence product strategy and roadmap
Contribute technical expertise, reusable best practices, and thought leadership to Field Engineering and the dbt community

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role within data, analytics, or BI
Strong technical foundation in SQL, data transformation, ETL/ELT, and data modeling
Strong understanding of modern cloud data warehouse, lake house, and analytics architectures
Ability to uncover and translate technical and business requirements into concrete solutions and measurable outcomes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to establish credibility and build trusted relationships with stakeholders ranging from data practitioners to senior executives
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while collaborating across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer teams
Experience with dbt or analytics engineering
Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or other modern cloud data platforms
Experience with data modeling methodologies such as dimensional modeling, Kimball, Data Vault, or 3NF
Experience with enterprise data integration or ETL platforms such as Informatica, Boomi, or Talend
Experience supporting complex enterprise technical evaluations, migrations, or transformation initiatives
