About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to strategic enterprise customers evaluating, adopting, and expanding their use of dbt
  • Partner with Sales to understand customer technical and business priorities
  • Design solutions using the dbt platform and demonstrate measurable value during evaluations
  • Lead technical discovery, connecting requirements to business outcomes and success criteria
  • Design enterprise-grade data transformation and analytics architectures using dbt
  • Lead customer evaluations and technical validation, including trials and proof-of-value engagements
  • Build relationships with technical practitioners, data leaders, executive stakeholders, technology partners, and consulting partners
  • Guide customers through technical architecture, security, governance, and deployment considerations
  • Support customer adoption and identify expansion opportunities throughout the customer lifecycle
  • Bring customer and field insights to Product and Engineering to influence product strategy and roadmap
  • Contribute technical expertise, reusable best practices, and thought leadership to Field Engineering and the dbt community

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions architecture, consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role within data, analytics, or BI
  • Strong technical foundation in SQL, data transformation, ETL/ELT, and data modeling
  • Strong understanding of modern cloud data warehouse, lakehouse, and analytics architectures
  • Ability to uncover and translate technical and business requirements into concrete solutions and measurable outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to establish credibility and build trusted relationships with stakeholders ranging from data practitioners to senior executives
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while collaborating across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer teams
  • Experience with dbt or analytics engineering is a bonus
  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or other modern cloud data platforms is a bonus
  • Experience with data modeling methodologies such as dimensional modeling, Kimball, Data Vault, or 3NF is a bonus
  • Experience with enterprise data integration or ETL platforms such as Informatica, Boomi, or Talend is a bonus
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise technical evaluations, migrations, or transformation initiatives is a bonus
