About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the structuring, analysis, and approval of highly complex credit transactions
  • Proactively monitor portfolio risk and identify industry trends and economic factors affecting credit quality
  • Advise sales and senior leadership on credit negotiations and deal execution
  • Work with clients, legal counsel, and internal teams to structure and negotiate credit agreements
  • Mentor junior credit professionals and provide training in credit risk best practices
  • Identify and raise credit process and procedure improvement areas to senior leadership
  • Make decisions regarding the assigned portfolio using independent judgment and discretion
  • Analyze and resolve problems pertaining to the assigned portfolio
  • Perform special projects and additional duties as required
  • Adhere to regulatory and compliance policies, standards, laws, and required trainings
  • Shape credit strategy, underwriting practices, risk management, and portfolio health while supporting bank growth objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field or 12+ years of equivalent experience
  • Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) MBA or CFA preferred
  • 10+ years in commercial credit analysis/structuring, underwriting, portfolio management and risk analysis
  • 10+ years of experience in the direct specialized line of business
  • Deep expertise in structuring and negotiating complex credit agreements
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence credit strategy and policy
  • In-depth understanding of macroeconomic factors and their impact on credit risk
  • Proven ability to manage large portfolios and advise senior executives
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Well versed in legal documentation, including credit agreements
  • Ability to develop junior associates, interact with legal counsel, and negotiate directly with clients
  • Deep knowledge of complex commercial lending structures, industry trends, and economic factors impacting credit risk
  • Ability to assess portfolio risk at a macro level
  • Expertise in negotiating complex loan terms
  • Knowledge of credit policies, compliance standards, and legal considerations in lending
  • Ability to articulate complex credit decisions clearly and persuasively
  • No unusual physical exertion is involved
