About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain Linux and Windows systems, including services, access, networking, and logs
  • Apply recurring security patches and mitigations to maintain compliance
  • Build and maintain operational automation
  • Support highly available services and database clusters
  • Operate virtualized infrastructure and help transition services toward containers
  • Support backup and snapshot workflows, including restore procedures
  • Use AI to assist with automation, scripting, troubleshooting, and architecture, converting assistance into reviewed, workable changes
  • Track work in Jira on a Kanban board
  • Write clear documentation covering environment build, operation, and recovery
  • Partner with engineers on releases and incidents
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation
  • Perform other assigned duties
  • Adhere to Integrated Management Systems requirements covering Quality, Information Security, and Privacy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience, training, or certifications welcome
  • 0–2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, cloud operations, DevOps, or a related technical role
  • Relevant internships, coursework, home labs, and substantial project work valued
  • Foundational Linux administration skills, including command line, systemd, and vi/vim
  • Familiarity with containers such as Docker, Docker Swarm, or Podman
  • Basic Windows administration skills
  • Familiarity with Bash/Shell scripting and ability to create or modify simple scripts with guidance
  • Exposure to VMware/vCenter and virtual machine operations, or willingness to learn traditional on-premises infrastructure
  • Understanding of security practices including patching, vulnerability remediation, and access management
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, or similar technologies
  • Interest in load balancing, high availability, and cluster-management tools such as HAProxy or Patroni
  • Familiarity with Jira, Kanban, or other ticketing and Agile work-management tools
  • Comfortable using AI tools responsibly for automation, scripting, troubleshooting, documentation, and learning
  • Clear written communication and willingness to document work, processes, and solutions
  • Strong curiosity, troubleshooting mindset, attention to detail, and motivation to learn modern infrastructure practices
  • Kubernetes exposure is a plus
  • Familiarity with Veeam, Zerto, or similar backup and recovery tools is a plus
