About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities
- Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources for students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
- Deliver synchronous learning opportunities a minimum of two days per week
- Assess changing curricular needs and offer improvement plans
- Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures
- Provide a positive environment that encourages active student engagement
- Communicate with students, parents, and internal and external professionals within established timelines
- Collaborate with peers through team teaching, meetings, staff development, communities of practice, and committees
- Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement
- Establish cooperative working relationships with students, parents, schools, and colleagues
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals and demonstrate gains in student performance
- Participate in research and presentations about online teaching, including authoring articles, hosting workshops, professional growth activities, and student outreach events
- Participate in blended learning models involving online and classroom instruction across schools and districts in Florida
- Report to an assigned school when required
- Provide instructional tutoring when responsible
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, deadlines, schedules, and resource coordination
- Perform other job-related duties as required
- Occasional travel to schools, lab visits, meetings, trainings, and conferences, potentially requiring overnight stays
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in content area
- Endorsements as required by Florida Department of Education
- Reading Endorsement preferred
- One year successful teaching experience within subject area required
- Operational knowledge of the Internet and Web-related technologies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
- Ability to collaborate on group projects and work as part of a team
- Responsible, accountable, and self-motivated
- Strong work ethic to achieve school goals
- Effective prioritizing, organizing, and time-management skills; ability to meet aggressive deadlines
- Ability to learn and apply required and recommended FLVS computer applications
- Ability to support FLVS core competencies, values, and student-centered behaviors
- Must be a Florida resident
- Must possess a teaching certification issued by the State of Florida within the specified content area
