About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide leadership for a team
Take full ownership of backend features and improvements from design through implementation, deployment, and production support
Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services using Python and Django
Build and maintain integrations with external systems, including KYC, geolocation, payment partners, and other third-party services
Work closely with product and engineering teams to scope and deliver new integrations
Implement observability across integration flows, including monitoring, logging, and alerting
Write unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability, prevent regressions, and improve test coverage and testing practices
Support production issues and participate in on-call rotations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience leading and managing a team of at least 3 engineers
At least 5+ years of development experience, with Python as the primary language and strong experience in API and system integrations
Proven experience integrating third-party APIs
Deep understanding of webhooks, callbacks, idempotency, and failure handling
Experience with observability tools to monitor and troubleshoot production integrations
Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and concurrency
Experience in architecture design of highly loaded and scalable solutions
Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment and production monitoring
Experience with Python, Django, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, and AWS
Payments and KYC integrations are a strong plus
Experience in early-stage startups and fast-paced engineering environments
Experience writing automated tests, measuring test coverage, and defining test automation strategies
Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, and Grafana
Experience in sports/betting industries
