About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Financial Controller and Accounting Manager with accounting and financial operations
- Actively participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closes
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and reliability of financial data, as well as the documentation of financial processes
- Prepare the documents and information required by auditors for the annual audit
- Provide backup coverage for key processes to ensure business continuity
- Participate in the preparation of financial statements and monitor deadlines and accuracy
- Perform account reconciliations and prepare month-end working papers
- Review certain work completed by other team members
- Ensure the proper documentation of processes and activities performed
- Support the Accounting Manager with the execution and monitoring of certain accounting transactions in the ERP
- Review and approve vendor payments through banking platforms, in accordance with applicable policies and controls
- Act as a resource for users regarding certain ERP transactions
- Prepare and file tax returns and other applicable government remittances
- Follow up on auditor requests for matters within the scope of responsibility
- Maintain appropriate documentation for tax and financial files
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Financial Controller during tax audits and follow-ups
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes
- Participate in standardizing accounting practices
- Collaborate with IT teams on financial systems and tools
- Work closely with the Financial Controller and Accounting Manager
- Support operational teams with questions related to accounting and financial processes
- Participate in various projects or initiatives related to financial operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant college or university education (DEC or bachelor's degree) in accounting
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in financial accounting
- Significant experience preparing financial closes and performing account reconciliations
- Experience in an SME or a fast-changing environment is an asset
- Experience in a multi-entity or multicurrency environment
- Excellent knowledge of the full accounting cycle
- Good knowledge of applicable accounting principles and standards
- Excellent proficiency in Excel
- Experience with an ERP or integrated financial system
- Experience with Power BI or other data analysis tools is an asset
- Highly rigorous and detail-oriented
- Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
- High degree of autonomy in carrying out daily responsibilities
- Sound professional judgment
