About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist physicians in the care and teaching of patients
  • Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, histories, examinations, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions and order diagnostic, follow-up, therapeutic, and post-discharge care measures under written protocols
  • Determine clinical-trial eligibility
  • Interpret and evaluate study and test findings
  • Communicate patient-care information to collaborating physicians
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens
  • Dictate follow-up letters and patient clinical documentation
  • Support family dynamics and coping during acute and chronic care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and hospital rounds
  • Provide on-call coverage as needed
  • Triage patients and determine urgency of physician evaluation
  • Document and report care accurately and promptly
  • Assist during crises and emergencies
  • Market and promote cancer treatment to the public
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure completion
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable laws
  • Assist with training new employees
  • Work at any FCS location as directed to meet business needs
  • Work overtime with sufficient notice
  • Maintain work areas, records, and company equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program, master’s degree in nursing, or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
  • 0–3 years licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, with prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply
  • Certification from PANCE, AANP, ANCC, or ONCC
  • BLS certified
  • Leadership skills to direct others toward treatment objectives
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patients, healthcare procedures/techniques, and quality of care
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • Analysis and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Time-management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to collaborate across management levels, departments, and teams
  • Ability to negotiate problems and explore solutions with physicians
  • Must pass background and drug screens
