About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist physicians in the care and teaching of patients
  • Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, histories, examinations, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions for medications and blood products in accordance with laboratory results, protocols, and follow-up studies
  • Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials
  • Interpret and evaluate study and test findings
  • Relay patient-care information to collaborating physicians
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians
  • Document histories, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes
  • Assist with family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds as needed
  • Triage patients for urgency of physician evaluation
  • Accurately document and report care
  • Assist staff during crises or emergencies
  • Market and promote cancer treatment in the community
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure completion of assignments
  • Comply with patient privacy, safety, labor, employment, IT, and disaster recovery policies
  • Maintain orderly work areas, records, and company equipment
  • Protect patient and employee confidentiality under HIPAA
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Work at any FCS location to meet business needs
  • Work overtime when given sufficient notice
  • Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Master’s degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
  • 0-3 years licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, with prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply
  • Certification from PANCE, AANP, ANCC, or ONCC
  • BLS certified
  • Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward objectives contributing to successful patient treatment
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patients’ status, healthcare procedures/techniques, and quality of patient care
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to collaborate across management levels, departments, and teams
  • Ability to negotiate problems and explore solutions with physicians
  • Must pass background, drug, and nicotine screenings
  • Must receive required vaccinations unless an approved exemption applies
  • Must comply with HIPAA, federal and state laws, and FCS policies and procedures
  • Willingness to work at any FCS location as directed
  • Willingness to work overtime with sufficient notice
