About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions for medications and blood products in accordance with written practice protocols
  • Determine patients’ eligibility for clinical trials
  • Interpret and evaluate study and test findings
  • Relay patient-care information to the collaborating physician
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians
  • Write patient histories, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes
  • Assist with family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care
  • Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds as needed
  • Triage patients according to urgency of physician evaluation
  • Document and report care accurately and timely
  • Assist staff during crises or emergencies
  • Market and promote cancer treatment to the public
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure completion of assignments
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information under HIPAA
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Keep work areas and records orderly
  • Maintain company equipment safely and properly

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Master’s degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
  • 0–3 years licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, with prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply
  • Certification from PANCE, AANP, ANCC, or ONCC
  • BLS certified
  • Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward treatment objectives
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patients’ status, healthcare procedures/techniques, and quality of patient care
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across management, departments, and teams
  • Ability to negotiate problems and explore solutions with physicians
  • Ability to work at any FCS location as directed by collaborating physicians
  • Willingness to work overtime with sufficient notice
  • Compliance with federal and state laws, patient privacy, HIPAA, and FCS policies
  • Successful background screening, drug/nicotine testing, and required vaccinations, barring approved exemption
