About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions for medication and blood products according to laboratory results, diagnostic studies, therapeutic measures, and written practice protocols
  • Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials
  • Interpret and evaluate study and test findings
  • Relay patient-care information to the collaborating physician
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and plan
  • Document patient histories, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes
  • Assist with family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care
  • Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Provide on-call coverage and perform hospital rounds as needed
  • Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation
  • Accurately document and report care
  • Assist staff during crises or emergencies
  • Market and promote cancer treatment in the community
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure completion of assignments
  • Work at any FCS location as directed by collaborating physicians
  • Work overtime when given sufficient notice
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Maintain orderly work areas and records, safe equipment, and confidentiality of patient and employee information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Master’s degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program
  • 0–3 Years Licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
  • Certification from PANCE, AANP, ANCC, or ONCC
  • BLS certified
  • Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward objectives that contribute to the successful treatment of patients
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate patients’ status, health care procedures/techniques, and monitor quality of patient care
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication
  • Solid time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across various levels of management, departments, and teams
  • Comfortable negotiating problems and exploring solutions with physician population
  • Must pass background, drug, and nicotine screening
  • Must receive required vaccinations, including influenza vaccine, unless an approved exemption applies
  • Must comply with HIPAA, federal and state laws, and FCS policies and procedures
