About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist physicians in the care and teaching of patients
  • Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions and order routine diagnostic and follow-up studies in accordance with written practice protocols
  • Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials
  • Interpret and evaluate study and test findings
  • Relay patient-care information to collaborating physicians
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and plan
  • Document patient histories, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes
  • Assist with family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care
  • Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds as needed
  • Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation
  • Document and report care accurately and promptly
  • Assist staff during crises or emergencies
  • Market and promote cancer treatment in public settings
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure completion
  • Maintain patient and employee confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Keep work areas, records, and equipment safe and orderly
  • Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master’s degree in nursing or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program, OR graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, prescriptive privileges or eligible to apply
  • 2+ years licensed as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Certification from AANP, ANCC, ONCC, or NCCPA
  • BLS certified
  • Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward objectives
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patients’ status and monitor quality of care
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Analysis and critical thinking
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across management levels, departments, and teams
  • Ability to negotiate problems and explore solutions with physicians
  • Successful completion of background screening and drug testing
  • Required vaccinations, including influenza, unless an approved exemption applies
  • Ability to comply with HIPAA, federal and state laws, and FCS policies and procedures
  • Ability to work at any FCS location as directed
  • Willingness to work overtime with sufficient notice
