About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies
  • Write prescriptions and order diagnostic, follow-up, therapeutic, and post-discharge care in accordance with protocols
  • Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials
  • Interpret and evaluate study and test findings
  • Relay patient-care information to the collaborating physician
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians
  • Document patient histories, admissions, progress notes, and discharge notes
  • Assist with family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care
  • Conduct or participate in multidisciplinary rounds
  • Provide on-call coverage and hospital rounds as needed
  • Triage patients according to urgency
  • Document and report care accurately and promptly
  • Assist staff during crises or emergencies
  • Market and promote cancer treatment externally
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure completion
  • Maintain patient and employee confidentiality under HIPAA
  • Assist in training new employees
  • Work at any FCS location as directed by the collaborating physician
  • Work overtime when given sufficient notice
  • Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, master’s degree in nursing, or post-masters nurse practitioner certificate program; OR graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current license/registration to practice in the state of Florida, with prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply
  • 2+ years licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Certification from AANP, ANCC, ONCC, or NCCPA
  • BLS certified
  • Leadership skills necessary to direct others toward treatment objectives
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patient status, healthcare procedures/techniques, and quality of patient care
  • Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across management levels, departments, and teams
  • Ability to negotiate problems and explore solutions with physicians
  • Compliance with HIPAA, federal and state laws, and FCS policies
  • Successful background and drug screening
  • Ability to receive required vaccinations, including influenza vaccine, unless exempt
