About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical and scientific oversight of the clinical laboratory
  • Ensure laboratory quality programs and services meet regulatory standards and established policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership to maintain standardized workflows
  • Perform, coordinate, monitor, and report quality assurance actions and issues
  • Review quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and equipment service and preventive-maintenance records
  • Provide on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation to clinic laboratory personnel
  • Prepare clinic laboratories for COLA and CLIA validation surveys and facilitate surveys
  • Coordinate inspection information, documentation, and data-gathering procedures
  • Identify knowledge gaps and provide in-service education
  • Evaluate testing personnel competency and proficiency
  • Perform direct-observation competency assessments at required frequencies
  • Resolve technical problems and ensure corrective actions for deviations from performance specifications
  • Monitor quality indicators and provide timely feedback to staff
  • Manage inventory responsibly and support company financial goals
  • Represent laboratory services as a subject-matter expert in cross-departmental presentations and projects
  • Support new clinical and pathology test offerings, technology enhancements, workflow or system changes, and analyzer/equipment upgrades
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Work at any location as needed to meet company business needs
  • Work overtime with sufficient notice
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Biological, Physical, Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution required
  • Current State of Florida Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
  • Current National Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification required
  • Valid Florida driver's license for travel to other FCS offices required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Good command of the English language
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Ability to work remotely effectively as required
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • Must pass background, drug, and nicotine screening
  • New hires must receive required vaccinations, including influenza vaccine, barring an approved exemption
  • Must comply with Federal laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patients' rights, safety, confidentiality, billing, and collections
  • Must comply with FCS and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and Disaster Recovery Plan
