About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Triage oncology patient calls regarding treatment, surgery, and appointment information
Monitor and provide patient symptom management
Manage high-risk, complex patient care to minimize emergency department visits and inpatient readmission
Assess barriers to care and address patient, caregiver, and family needs
Provide individualized patient education, resources, and referrals
Assist the physician and PA-C/ARNP with patient and family interactions to resolve clinical issues
Complete requested clinical documentation
Establish and maintain professional role boundaries with patients, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary care team
Facilitate communication among the multidisciplinary cancer care team
Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient condition
Answer questions and provide clinical direction following chemotherapy, radiation, infusion treatments, and surgery
Provide coverage for the infusion floor/shot room as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Registered Nurse multistate or Florida single state licensure required
Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) preferred
Two (2) years or more of experience as an RN
One (1) year or more of oncology experience required
Strong organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and reprioritize quickly
Ability to develop collaborative relationships both internally and externally
Strong written communication skills
Strong telephonic assessment and communication skills
Ability to work autonomously and with a virtual team in a remote work environment
Strong oncology side effect/triage management
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Possess high level critical-thinking skills
Must comply with Florida State Board of Nursing rules and regulations
Successful background and drug screening
Required vaccinations, including the influenza vaccine, barring an approved exemption
