About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own electrical design and sizing of multi-hundred-megawatt storage plants across concurrent gigawatt sites
Develop single-line, protection, grounding, power and energy ratings, and augmentation strategies
Qualify and dual-source BESS vendors
Run factory witness testing, failure mode reviews, and warranty-term reviews with supply chain
Define coordinated dispatch of storage, solar, and on-site generation
Ensure the plant maintains a firm load profile through resource swings and generator trips
Drive NFPA 855 compliance and hazard mitigation analysis
Obtain AHJ and insurer approval using large-scale fire-test evidence
Lead commissioning, capacity testing, round-trip performance testing, and controls integration
Prepare plants for connection of the first AI training load
Build and operate civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI, including acquiring power and designing and operating data centers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience taking grid-scale battery storage from single line to energized plant, including naming sites and megawatts
Experience sizing storage systems against real duty cycles
Experience making augmentation decisions and evaluating model accuracy
Experience selecting BESS vendors on technical grounds
Experience with factory witness testing
Experience reviewing and challenging technical datasheets
Experience with NFPA 855 and hazard mitigation analysis, including obtaining AHJ or insurer approval
Experience integrating storage controls with generation and load
Ability to write clearly for procurement leads, fire marshals, and CEOs
Bonus: Hybrid plant and dispatch modelling using PLEXOS, PVsyst, or HOMER
Bonus: Power system studies using PSCAD or ETAP
Bonus: Protection coordination and arc flash experience
Bonus: Behind-the-meter and islanded microgrid operation
Bonus: Interconnection and market processes involving FERC, ERCOT, or MISO
Bonus: Professional Engineer license
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must be open to working in an in-person office environment
